I found this Egret at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and I just saw it sitting pretty much at eye level on a tree. It had good contrast with the background, so I had to take the shot.

Baby African Elephant

This little guy was only 5 weeks old.

Taken at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, a sister facility of the San Diego Zoo.

I can't wait to see the Asian Elephants moved from the Wild Animal Park to their new home at Elephant Odyssey at the Zoo downtown - the new facility looks awesome, and should be a major improvement in the elephants' lives. Unfortunately, I will be out-of-state when E.O. opens! Does anyone know if the African Elephant exhibit at the WAP will be expanded to take over the 3 acres of the former Asian Elephant exhibit?

There were about 10 juvenile lions sleeping next to the glass. You could walk up so close, and if you could reach through that 2cm glass, you would touch them. You see a reflection here, off the glass.

Butterfly season at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. There's an enclosure full of all different kinds of butterflies that you can walk through.

Baby Vacuum

It had been a mystery as to how children, especially babies were disappearing from the Wild Animal Park until this image of a baby being sucked through a giant vacuum tube was captured!! just kidding, thought it looked kinda funny.

It was actually a pipe that ran under the playground and on each end there was a funnel. The little girls dad was talking to her from the other side of the playground through the pipe.

I much prefer the vacuum theory!!

Our second day in San Diego found us visiting the animals at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. This lion was demonstrating what happens when you park your car in the wrong place there! :)

We have one more day in San Diego (we're off to the Zoo tomorrow) and then it's up the coast to Los Angeles for a couple of days before we head back home.

I typically upload in small sets - don't just look at the latest one in my photostream as you might be missing something you'll like more.... and your comments are ALWAYS welcome :)
