While the raging war between the contestants is not all about the war but the looks between their elephants dressed as super coloured wariors in their very special way and their front and rear decorations make you feel - WoW... Indeed... This is one of the contestants, The Mahawat - on the elephant from New Zealand representing the Elepant Festival of Jaipur, 2010.

Shot this on field trip to the Denver zoo with my daughters class. Was a great time checking out the animals, I mean the behaved ones ;)

I hope you enjoy today's post. If you like what you see the greatest compliment you could give me is to share this with others. I appreciate all the feedback, comments and 'likes' I get and read and respond to every one of them.

Merry Christmas to All My Flickr Friends and Family
all about animals
As a Christian, Jesus really is the reason for the season of Christmas for me. I don't just celebrate His birth, but also His Life, death, and Resurrection. He is my example for life. He cared for all He met, and told them of God's love and desire to have them draw close to Him. He was always talking about the kingdom of God, and what it was like, and how He came to do His Father's work. May you know how much God loves you, cares for you, and desires for you to know Him, too. Merry Christmas, everyone.

PhotonQ-The Ugly and Stupid Animal...Human
all about animals
This morning just in front of the biggest commercial centre, a circus was doing advertising for their "show" with two lions and a baby one at the back of a truck...

Cars were stopping by for a second to see what was inside. And would drive away as soon as they would see them. They were in bad shape, dirty, with blood on their face. The cage was like crap, and their eyes...well I had the opportunity to see lions in the wild... these one were just dead, the shadow of a cat at best.
My first thought was that it could be children or human dying inside, it felt the same thing from an ethical point of view, with people passing by, like it was fun.

When I got near the truck to have a better look inside and take picture of this mess (to record it), one of the circus guy told me a joke...Well I thought he was joking at first... But he was not, like a bad clown,he aked me to pay 5 euros for each photo I would take. The only funny thing was that without make-up, his face expression just changed when I told him what to do with his idea.

I left with a strange feeling and the smell of the place in my mind for the next hour. I came across some cops on the way back, and told them to have a look. The SPA and Veterinarian inspection have been informed too. Will see tomorrow if it changed something. But I am betting it won' t. I am not an "animal right activist" or anything like that. But today I felt what some people must feel about this kind of practice.

I left with a question... what' s the point... All day long I tried to feet theory and ideas..so far..they are more stupid than the reality of the scene itself..

Any thoughts ?

Hey - YOU! What are you lookin' at? Huh? What, never seen handsome before? Never thought a Meercat could be so sexy? What are you looking at? STOP STARING!

This little guy was all about posing, as you can see in some of his other shots. He probably hadn't seen that many people tall enough to reach "over" his glass wall to snap photos (or that would).

Sign at Mantingerzand. The animals don't look all that threatening to me actually (on this sign that is :-) it reminds me of cartoons/comics or something, like they show up in a scene and are trying to say something sarcastic.

Retirement with No Problem 10 of 20
all about animals

Photo 10 – Its all about technique when you open the lock gates

For about 3 years I have been a follower of the blog “Retirement with No Problem”
noproblem.org.uk/blog/ The internet diary of a couple Vic and Sue, who retired from the family business to live on a traveling narrow boat “No Problem”, they move each day along the canals of England. Sue originally began the blog so that the family back home in Portsmouth would be able to follow them and now its well read by other boaters because it keeps up to date with anything from the location for the best fuel prices, signs of damage to the canal or near by facilities and a detailed review of the visited pubs food and drink.

Reading the blog I found that they are travelling through the Birmingham area over the weekend, I wanted to find them and introduce myself but I knew it would be almost impossible because they move so quick and they could be anywhere on the city canal system, in fact I tried to find them last year without success. Last week Sue blogged that they are going through the 21 locks at Wolverhampton and I then knew I could find them along that stretch because it takes a few hours to navigate through a small area.

All We Really Are is Squirrels - 52/365

I finally managed to find a squirrel in St James' Park and get a half decent shot! I was following this little guy round for about half an hour, firing off shots as he went around digging up nuts and scoffing them. They don't seem overly scared of people these ones, if you hold out your hand they'll come right up to you and investigate. I'll have to take some nuts back during a lunch time and get some more shots as they might stick around a bit longer.

Better Things To Worry About 2
all about animals
Second paining in a series of at least five pieces. (three more planned) The birds are blue and red again, and this time I went with a different type of composition, lots of negative space and quite a bit more depth than the last one. I also went with a more formal approach, the pallet knife marks become just as important as the animals and the formal elements of the piece are on the same level as the concept, perhaps even more important. I really did not mean for the formal elements to take over (just something to remember for the next one)
Once again, the blue and red birds symbolize our American two-party system. I added an American flag in the area where an artist signature should go (added digitally, I might sew an actual mini flag on the painting itself...or something like that) literally to say "this was created by America". Sounds really postmodern, right? I know, I disgust myself. Although in all honestly no anger or spite was meant by placing that there (that would defeat the purpose of the painting to do anything regarding this out of anger or spite). I put it there for the added context. Now the political aspect cannot be separated, whereas with the other one the message was much more general and the political statement was very much "take it or leave it". I hope the message is still also about anger and polarization in general.
